Know What Causes Sinus Conditions and Pain
Sinus conditions have several different causes. Many sinus conditions come as the result of an allergy or cold. As your illness progresses, it may block the sinuses and result in stuffiness and a headache. Other patients come to Cross Timbers ENT with a painful sinus infection, sometimes caused by nasal polyps or a deviated septum. If you’re struggling with a painful sinus condition, visit our Mansfield, Midlothian, or Arlington office to learn more about the cause of your discomfort.
Are You Experiencing Symptoms of a Sinus Condition?
We’ve treated patients diagnosed with a wide array of sinus conditions, major and minor. Typical nasal and sinus conditions we treat at Cross Timbers ENT include:
- Sinusitis: A sinus infection, or sinusitis, often comes accompanied by a stuffy or runny nose, coughing, difficulty smelling, and general facial pain. You may have a chronic variety if you experience symptoms for more than 12 weeks.
- Narrow sinuses: We find some patients to have narrower sinuses than others. This makes for difficulty draining and more frequent blockages.
- Allergies: Many people are extra-sensitive to an environmental trigger—certain foods, grass, and pet dander to name a few. Allergic reactions often cause uncomfortable swelling in the nose, and in some cases, result in life-threatening symptoms.
When Should I See a Doctor for a Sinus Condition?
Like with most medical conditions, there comes a point when you need professional help. Most symptoms are manageable if they only last a few days, but you should call your Cross Timbers ENT doctor if they continue for more than 10 days. Fever, runny nose, congestion, or facial swelling all call for a doctor’s visit when they last longer than a week. If your condition keeps coming back, you’ll want to get in touch with Cross Timbers ENT as well. Visit one of our offices in Mansfield, Midlothian, or Arlington, TX for expert advice.
